The recipes in the book use NO TABLE
SUGAR or HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP.
"SUGARS" here
refer to the nutritional values of the products using
honey,
blackstrap molasses, dried fruits, etc.

WHY
SETTLE FOR A "COMMERCIAL ENERGY BARS" IDEA OF WHAT GOOD NUTRITION IS
.......................................
Personalize
your bread
Make it the way you want it........low "sugars",
low calorie, high calorie,
high protein, high fiber, fat free, cholesterol free, no oils or preservatives,
40-30-30, fresh fruits only, aphrodisiac, chock full of nuts, etc., etc.
There are 100's of pug bread possibilities......Click the box below to see
some possible ingredients:

"Sugars" Content as low
as 5g per serving can be
achieved in pugs
like "Dieter's DeLITE" (not a
published recipe)(a modification of the recipe for "Banana Pumpkin
Whopper.")
[27g Tl Carbohydrates/123 calories] per serving.
*Note: Although the "sugars" content
is not listed on the master "PUG
RECIPES" page
in the book, it is on each individual recipe's page along with all other nutritional
info (click here to see
sample recipe page)
The majority of recipes in the book have "sugars"
values around 30g per serving.
This value comes from a basic recipe theme of using 1 cup of honey +¼ cup of
blackstrap molasses (high in iron) per loaf. This translates into 1 tablespoon of honey
per slice which has 60 calories and 16g of "sugars". (The molasses adds
about 3g of
"sugars" per slice).
You can easily make pugs (and granola) with "sugars"
and calories values much
lower by adjusting (or eliminating) the amounts of honey/molasses and dried fruits.
Remember "P" stands for "Personalized" and
that's the main theme of the recipe book.
The purpose of pages 25 & 26 (E-Z NUTRITIONAL COMPARISON CHART)
which lists the
nutritional values of many possible ingredients (all in 1 cup values) is
to help
you
make recipes with the nutritional values that are best for you.
Prune juice, brown rice syrup and stevia are other good
"sweeteners" choices (instead of honey)
for
pugs that will achieve a much lower "sugars" and calories value. There
is plenty of
information in the recipe book to accomplish this.
The pug bread recipe book does have some tasty lower "sugars"
/ calorie pugs
you might want to try also. See the recipes for:
"The Eliminator" [19g "Sugars"/serving],
"Cran-Newton" [18g "Sugars"/serving],
or "OJ PUG" [15g "Sugars"/serving].

THERE ARE
HUNDREDS OF POSSIBILITIES..............
Craft your own
Granola
Other lower "sugars" /
calorie granolas
can be made by modifying the E - Z Trails Granola recipe in the book. By substituting prune
juice for the honey/molasses/maple syrup combination, and then adjusting the amounts of raisins and
chopped dates, your granola could have approximately
2g of "sugars" (222 calories) per ½ cup serving.
Click on the recipe below see one idea of doing
this:

Granola"
